Peer review journals only publish new, important, innovative articles. This is how researchers communicate and in turn how new cures are found.

We are dedicated to improving the cure rates of women with gynecologic and breast cancer through innovative clinical research.

Ovarian Cancer Vaccine Update

We had an excellent meeting with Dr. Robert Dillman and CSR biotech personnel recently.  The first phase of this project should launch by 11/15/2013.  This first phase will involve collecting ovarian cancer specimen from six patients, and making individual vaccines for each patient.  We need to do this to prove that the vaccine production process is perfected.  We will then be able to move on to the actual vaccine trial, involving approximately ninety six patients.  Hopefully the trial will start in January/February of 2014.  If you would like to make a donation to support this “first in the world” trial, this can be done either in person at our office located at 351 Hospital Road Suite 506 Newport Beach, CA., 92663 or online at https://womenscancerfoundation.com/donations/

Metformin Ovarian Cancer Trial

NYWCRF is actively working with the University of North Carolina (UNC) and Gynecologic Oncology Associates of Newport Beach to design a first line trial adding metformin to gold standard taxol/carboplatin chemotherapy treatment.  Several retrospective trials have shown that metformin may be useful in treating cancer and possibly preventing cancer from developing.  UNC has extensive animal data suggesting that this new combination might improve ovarian cancer cure rates.  This will be a first in the world trial in humans.  We expect the treatment to be well tolerated.  Since metformin is off patent, no pharmaceutical company will fund the trial.  NYWCRF will therefore fund this important trial itself.  If you would like to help support this trial you can make a tax deductible donation on our website at https://womenscancerfoundation.com/donations/

WCRF is now Nancy Yeary Women’s Cancer Research Foundation.

We have partnered with Bob Yeary to enter into a new era for our foundation. Bob Yeary is an innovator, thinker, and shaker in the business world.  Bob’s talents in growing and managing nationwide enterprises will now be used to expand and improve WCRF.  His wife Nancy was a WCRF patient who was a wonderful woman, who eventually did succumb to ovarian cancer.  Bob Yeary has made an initial contribution of $500,000 to WCRF.   This includes a $350,000 matching fund, so that contributions to the new Nancy Yeary WCRF will be matched dollar for dollar by Bob Yeary.  This is an incredible opportunity for all of us to speed up the process of finding new cures for ovarian and other women’s cancers.
